World 24-Hour MTB Championships – 2011
Dating back to 1998 when I decided to formally host the first World 24 Hour Solo Mountain Bike Championships (W24C) the goal has remained the same. Provide a platform for the best one-day endurance mountain bike riders in the World.
For more than a decade the W24C has taken place in North America, however that changed in 2010 with the event taking place in Australia in partnership with CORC.
Hosting an event halfway around the world certainly had its challenges and both twenty4 sports and CORC learned a great deal along the way.
Our vision for the 2011 W24C was to have it hosted in Europe, ultimately we failed to secure an event site in a timely fashion. As the 2011 race season started to unfold we lost the time necessary to put on a world-class event at a European site. Rather than risk the quality of event we chose to pass on 2011 and instead focus on 2012.
