The sport of 24 Hour mountain bike racing is relatively a young sport, started in 1992 in North America, 24 Hour mountain biking events grew in popularity in the mid 90′s throughout North America and then globally.
While most mountain bikers participated on teams ranging from 2 – 10 members a young Ed Hunt (17 years old at the time) requested to race solo in 1994 at the first ever 24 Hours of Indiglo (later renamed 24 Hours of Adrenalin). As 24 Hour mtb events continued to grow in popularity a few pioneers of the spot were instrumental in providing the light required, that lead Stuart Dorland to form the World 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships in 1999.
